Chemainus transformed its economy in the 1980s by covering its buildings with over 60 giant outdoor murals depicting local history — and it worked spectacularly. Follow the yellow footprints painted on the sidewalks through the compact downtown to find them all, including 3D and interactive installations. Pick up a free mural map at the Visitor Centre and allow extra time to wander Old Town Chemainus at the bottom of the hill.
